Performance and Grading Policy

Graded Quizzes (36 Marks)

    1. There will be a total of 6 graded quizzes (GQ), of 9 marks each.  2 of these quizzes are 'droppable'. It means that if you attempt all 6, only 4 in which you scored the most, will be counted towards the grade. The quizzes will thus account for 36 marks. The marks scored by you in GQs will be counted towards your final grade.
    2. There will be a number of problems for you to practice (PPS). There will not be any deadline for these, but you are expected to solve these for your own practice and understanding, so that you can attempt the graded quizzes with better preparation.

Graded Programming Assignments (24 Marks)

    1. There will be practice programming assignments (PPA) for you to write code. There will be a total of 6 graded programming assignments (GPA) of 6 marks each. Here again, your best score in 4 of these assignments will be counted, (i.e. 2 are 'droppable'). The GPAs will thus account for 24 marks. The marks scored in GPAs will be counted towards your final grade.
    2. Codeboard: An online web based IDE is used in this course which allows you to write your code, compile, and execute your programs. A sample codebase titled 'Practice Programming', in the top panel, is created for you to practice on the fly. Actual PPAs and GPAs are created under their respective topics. Your graded programming assignments will be graded automatically.

Mid Term Exam (20 MARKS)

    1. There will be 1 mid term exam (ME) of 20 marks. The marks scored in this will be counted towards your final grade.

Final Exam (20 Marks)

    1. There will be 1 final exam (FE) of 20 marks. The marks scored in this will be counted towards your final grade.
